NEWSLETTER... Several years
ago, NRCS in North Carolina led by Bobby Brock, the State Agronomist,
established a soil quality team. The team is made up of state, area,
and field office personnel and representatives from a soil and water
conservation district and the state soil and water conservation agency.
They have done some very beneficial work related to conservation
tillage and soil quality.
Their major goal is to have NC field office staffs up-to-date on soil
quality matters and for them to encourage and assist farmers and others
to use practices which will improve soil quality. A few years ago they
spent several days visiting NRCS, several farmers, and some researchers
in Georgia.
One major effort of the NC Soil Quality Team has been the technology
transfer of valuable information on soil quality to others. They
prepare a quarterly soil quality newsletter.
